Apple Car is said to cost under $100,000 – but won’t come until 2026
Apple has postponed the launch of its in-house electric car. Because the Apple Car should not come onto the market until 2026, a year later. The tech group also plans to offer its electric car for under $100,000.
The market launch was actually planned a year ago. Now Apple has changed plans for its self-driving electric car. As Bloomberg reported, the presentation of the Apple Car will be postponed by one year to 2026.

Apple Car gets more realistic design
The Apple Car was supposed to be a fully autonomous vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals. However, since the design cannot be realized with current technology, Apple is reducing its requirements for the new electric car.
The company is now apparently aiming for a less ambitious design, according to anonymous sources. However, the project known as “Titan” is intended to produce a vehicle with a steering wheel and pedals. However, the electric car should only be able to drive autonomously on motorways.
However, it should be possible for drivers to turn their attention to other things during the journey. For example, passengers should be able to watch a film or play games.
Apple considered rolling out the feature in North America first, then improving and expanding it over time.
Apple Car is said to cost under $100,000
Apple initially assumed that each Apple Car would cost more than $120,000. Now, however, the company aims to offer consumers the e-vehicle for less than $100,000.
That would put the car in the same price bracket as the entry-level Tesla Model S or Mercedes-Benz EQS.
However, the Apple Car is still in the “pre-prototype” phase. The iPhone manufacturer wants to define the final design for its car by 2023. By the end of 2024, the functions of the vehicle should also be determined. Corresponding extensive tests are then planned for 2025.
Is Apple reaching its limits with car development?
Apple started developing the Apple Car ten years ago. The earlier version was supposed to offer autonomy at the so-called level five. That would mean the pinnacle of self-driving technology unmatched by any other automaker to date.
If the company had been able to implement its plans accordingly, the computer and smartphone manufacturer would have overtaken well-known car manufacturers in one sentence. However, the updated plans for the Apple Car show that the group may be reaching the limits of its possibilities with the project.
Apple has not yet officially commented on the plans for its electric car.
