Ikea is the Germans’ favorite furniture retailer. Last year alone, the Swedes made 5.31 billion euros in sales in this country. Almost everyone has something from Ikea at home, whether it’s a single Billy shelf or the complete home furnishings. If you have a certain model of the “Metallisk” espresso maker in your kitchen, you should sort it out as soon as possible.

According to Ikea, the chic espresso maker has a “increased risk that the product could burst during use”, writes the furniture retailer on its website. Accordingly, Ikea is recalling the “Metallisk” espresso maker and refunding the affected customers the purchase price.

According to Ikea, the increased risk stems from a “change in the material and the design of the safety valve”, which is why not all espresso makers in the series are affected by the risk of explosion. This only exists for “Metallisk” espresso makers Stainless steel safety valve and date stamped between 2040 and 2204 (YYWW). The corresponding model was offered in the colors silver/grey.

Ikea customers get a full refund of their purchase price

According to Ikea, anyone who has one of the affected espresso makers in the kitchen does not have to worry about returning it. The kitchen appliance can can be returned to any furniture store for a refund of the full purchase price. A receipt for the return is not necessary.
