Android Auto comes in different shapes and sizes. For example, we know the app for the infotainment system in the car, which starts when you connect the phone to the car. In addition, there is a variant for telephone screens, which works with a separate app, separate from the infotainment system. In 2021 it was announced that the app would be disabled.

Google has now started informing users via the app. It is said that the app will soon stop working. So it won’t be long before the app goes black permanently. No date is mentioned anywhere. Support of the app for Android 12 has already ended, so the other Android versions will follow shortly.

Google has chosen the Assistant as a replacement, giving it special driving options; although not everyone is equally happy with this replacement.
