Android 14: how to install the beta version on your phone?

If you’re the proud owner of a Google Pixel (4y 5G and up), then you can get early access to Android 14, through its beta program. The fourth and latest version seems to have reached its final state, allowing the curious to manually install the next version of the OS on their smartphone.

Little reminder ! If Android 14 beta has reached a certain level of stability, the OS still remains in beta version. This therefore means that bugs or instabilities may still be present in its current version. Keep that in mind if you decide to install it on your Pixel.

Which devices can access Android 14 beta?

Google has chosen to limit its Beta program to owners of Pixel for Android 14. A small extension, the brand’s latest innovations (Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet) are also compatible. Here are the devices:

  • Pixel 5 and 5a
  • Pixel 6, 6a and 6 Pro
  • Pixel 7, 7a and 7 Pro

In fact, some other manufacturers have limited access to the Android 14 beta (OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, etc.). However, they do not benefit from the latest version of the program, which greatly limits the interest. How do I install the Android 14 beta on my Pixel?

To access Android 14 from your Pixel smartphone, the procedure is very simple. In a few steps, you have access to the operating system:

  • Go to Android Beta Program on browser.
  • Log in to your Google account.
  • Click on See compatible devices and select your Pixel model.
  • Click on the program access button.
  • Accept the terms and conditions.
  • Confirm your registration.

The Android 14 OTA will then install on your device. You can check its progress from Settings > System > System Update. At any time, you can leave the Android 14 Beta Program from the Android Beta Program platform.

If you prefer to wait for the final version of Android 14, a little more patience. Logically, it should be made available to the general public at the end of the summer, or even, at the latest, at the beginning of the autumn of 2023.
