Android 13 is going to save your battery

Batteries that run out quickly are always annoying. With Android 13, that will change.

For many people, the battery of the smartphone does not last longer than a day. In fact, we often charge twice a day. This is because we use the device a lot and those applications that are on it drain your battery.

Well, Google is going to change that, according to Google. The company has announced that Android 13 will get a new notification system. That system will help you to reduce your battery consumption. Android does this by sending a warning if an app in the background consumes (too) much energy. This allows you to disable the app if you are not using it. And this helps you save on your energy consumption. Google said this in a new developers blog

The system warns you if an app uses a lot of energy in the last 24 hours. Fortunately, this warning doesn’t come up when the app is running in the foreground. That’s only logical, because these are the apps you use often. There are a few other exceptions, for example there are no warnings when an app establishes a VPN connection. If an app runs in the foreground for more than 20 hours, you will receive a notification, because this is very long and can therefore not be correct. When you click on the notification, the phone opens the Foreground Service Task Manager. Use this to change your settings.

It is not clear when you can start using this function. Google is currently testing the functionality in a test version. Presumably we have to wait for Android 13.
