Android 12 rollout on OnePlus 9 is halted
OxygenOS 12 was rolled out this week, but that has now been discontinued. The reason? There are too many bugs in the software. OnePlus 9 owners were initially happy that they were already equipped with Android 12 this week, but when it turned out that a lot goes wrong after the update, complaints rained on the Chinese smartphone maker.
OxygenOS 12 rollout halted
Due to those complaints about the many bugs, OnePlus has decided to put the rollout of OxygenOS 12 on hold again. OxygenOS 12 is the Android shell of OnePlus itself, which has now been updated because Google has also released an update of the Android operating system. OnePlus has told Android Police that the software team is working hard to solve all the problems. In addition, OnePlus promises that it will soon come up with a new version.
The problems arise when you want to make a telephone call or when you want forms to be filled in automatically with your name and address details. In addition, not only are things broken, there are also possibilities that have completely disappeared. Possibilities that make OnePlus top, such as being able to change individual icons or removing the Google Feed.
ColorOS
It is hoped that OnePlus will bring it back, because that is precisely why many people choose OnePlus. There is therefore great fear of what is to come: the fusion of OnePlus’ Oxygen operating system and Oppo’s ColorOS. If there’s one Android skin that’s most customizable, it’s OxygenOS. It would be a real shame if that were to disappear.
However, it is now becoming clear that this is already happening. OxygenOS 12 is not so much a skin on top of Android 12: it is a skin on top of Oppo’s ColorOS. OnePlus users have never experienced this before and certainly if you counted on OnePlus and Android 12 instead of OnePlus and Oppo and Android 12, you will come home from a cold fair. Besides of course the fact that those bugs are not exactly desirable.
In short, if you have a OnePlus 9 and still see an update ready, we recommend that you leave it for what it is, until OnePlus again chooses to roll out the update further.
