A new flagship from China is just around the corner: With the Honor Magic 4, an interesting competitor to the Galaxy S22 from Samsung should arise. Equipped with a top processor, the first benchmark results are impressive in a direct comparison.

Honor Magic 4: Presentation confirmed on February 28th

The former Huawei subsidiary Honor has big plans. As an independent brand, it is not affected by Huawei’s US sanctions and can go to great lengths when it comes to hardware and software. This is noticeable in the upcoming Magic 4 flagship. Now Honor CEO George Zhao confirmedthat the mobile phone is expected on February 28, 2022. As part of the Mobile World Congress, the Magic 4 will not only be shown, but also published.

The Honor Magic 4 is already included in advance strong benchmark results attracted attention. In Geekbench, the cell phone even got a slightly better result than the Galaxy S22 Ultra from Samsung (source: GSMArena). As always, early benchmarks should be treated with caution. Actual performance is yet to be assessed.

The fact that the Magic 4 certainly doesn’t need to hide from the Galaxy S22 series is shown by the choice of processor. Here the Chinese manufacturer relies on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which as currently the best Android processor is applicable. With Android itself, unlike Huawei, Honor can offer its customers Google apps and services without any difficulties.

Honor Magic 4: Probably two models planned

According to rumors, Honor would like to present one with Dimensity 9000 in addition to the variant with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This suggests that alongside the Magic 4 yet another model it’s planned. The manufacturer has not yet confirmed whether the cell phones will be marketed as Magic 4 at all. The number may simply be skipped and the smartphones released as the Magic 5 series.
