All secret codes to control your android phone

Android phones work with codes that you use via the phone app to get information about your smartphone or to access special settings. Some codes work for all Android devices, while others vary by phone brand. We discuss what you can do with the codes.

Man Machine Interface Codes

If you’ve ever changed your SIM PIN or extended the “ringing time” — that is the time that elapses before callers reach your voicemail — you may have used a code in the Phone app. These are so-called ‘USSD codes’ that differ for each provider. Such codes allow you to communicate directly with your provider’s servers to adjust settings for your telephone services.

In this article we are talking about a variant of the USSD codes, namely the ‘Man Machine Interface codes’ (MMI). This allows you to quickly access your phone’s information and settings, but unlike USSD codes, MMI works completely offline.

Generic Codes

MMI codes are part of Android, but often the different manufacturers add extra features. However, there are also brands that do not or hardly use MMI codes at all. Google is such a manufacturer, so if you have a Pixel phone you can only use these generic codes.

This is how you enter the codes via the Phone app

You type in such codes via the phone app, and to activate them, press call. An important rule when in doubt about adjusting settings is that you first determine for yourself whether you understand what you are doing. We first give an overview of the generic codes:
