All battery saver apps are bullshit? Definitely not this one
Most apps that claim to serve as battery savers are not recommended, but Naptime is. That’s because the app only uses the already existing battery saving techniques in Android and uses them smarter.
Naptime
This app basically does exactly what its name says, as it makes your phone go into deep sleep faster when not in use. Naptime uses Android’s doze feature, which is Android’s battery saver feature, and uses the feature faster than Android itself would.
The advantage of this is that your phone switches to an energy-saving mode more quickly, and so you have more remaining capacity at the end of the day. You can also use the ‘aggressive doze’ variant which saves even more, but keep in mind that you will only receive priority notifications.
Androidworld advises you to ignore most apps that promise to save on battery. Many come with techniques such as clearing the app cache to purge background tasks, so to speak. That would make your phone faster and you would use it more economically, but in practice that is not the case. Android and doze are perfectly capable of being economical with your battery, only an app like Naptime can give an extra boost where necessary.
Experimental Features
Naptime also has a number of experimental features and an extensive section with data on your battery consumption. You will then see when doze has started working after your screen is locked, and this way you can track the progress of your battery. Naptime is a free app and it offers even more options for users who have rooted their phone. Be sure to also discover our tips that tell you how best to charge your phone to limit wear on the battery.
