Rumor: AirPods will soon monitor your health

Kevin Lynch, Apple’s vice president of technology, has hinted that AirPods may get their own health sensors in the future. The wireless earphones can thus be used to provide even more health data to users.

The iPhone and Apple Watch currently both contain a wide range of sensors to provide users with health data. Apple also uses sensor fusion. This is a technology that combines data from different sensors on board multiple devices. This gives users a more comprehensive picture of their health.

In an interview with TechCrunch left Lynch hint that Apple may add the popular wireless headset to the process of sensor fusion. “We are already working with sensor fusion on some devices these days. I think there are all kinds of possibilities regarding AirPods.” That sounds promising.

Rumor about AirPods with health sensors is not new

‘s suggestion Lynch corresponds to a report from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In the report, Kuo recently that Apple will introduce health sensors in AirPods‌ in the future.

Also Mark Gurman from Bloomberg came up with a similar message. The second-generation AirPods Pro will receive “updated motion sensors with a focus on fitness tracking,” he said.

Whether and when AirPods will actually be transformed into true health masters remains to be seen. For now we use them at iPhoned only as musical aids during a grueling workout.
