After years of speculation, TimeSplitters officially returns -apkrig

If you’ve experienced the era of the second PlayStation and you don’t have anything specifically against the shooters, you couldn’t miss the TimeSplitters series from the developers of Free Radical Design. They were so good at their work that TimeSplitters often equates to legends like GoldenEye 007 or Perfect Dark, and thanks to the element of time travel or many pop culture allusions, the game is remembered only at its best. The paradox, however, is that the series, despite its success at the time, was not continued on subsequent generations of consoles, although it was widely speculated and fans often expressed their interest. However, they had to wait until last night, when Deep Silver confirmed that under the banner of Koch Media, resp. Embracer Group pushed for the resumption of the Free Radical Design studio and announced that the first game would be the sequel to TimeSplitters.

“You asked and we decided to hear you. We are working to bring the TimeSplitters brand back and are pleased to announce that we are setting up a new studio for this purpose, ”said part of a message that appeared on Deep Silver’s Twitter. That one new however, the studio will again be Free Radical Design, which has gone through a tumultuous past, several renames and eventually bankruptcy, after which most of the team left for the emerging Dambuster studio. However, the last owner of the TimeSplitters brand – the German company Crytek – decided to deprive himself of his rights a few years ago, the company Koch Media reached for them and now there is nothing to prevent the resurrection of her home studio.

This is a message that must bring optimism to the lives of all fans who have wanted a full continuation since 2005.

Veterans from the ranks of players do not have to worry that it is just an empty box with a well-known name. The rebirth of Free Radical is backed by the original founders of the studio, Steve Ellis and David Doak, who now have the task of finding enough suitable employees and getting to work. It is also worth noting that both mentioned developers were part of Rare at the time of the introduction of the titles GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, so the level of processing TimeSplitters was not a coincidence and we firmly believe that their years of experience will be reflected in the emerging news.

But before we find out what the game will look like, or whether we can look forward to some original elements, a lot of time will pass. Deep Silver states in a press release and on Twitter that development has not yet begun and that it is first necessary to prepare an adequate environment. Therefore, we can estimate that he kicks the ground for the first time easily until next year, and then the work on the game can take up to two years. Nevertheless, it is a message that must bring optimism to the lives of all fans who have wanted a full continuation since 2005, when the last episode with the subtitle Future Perfect was released. In recent years, they could only hear very vague promises and hints, which, however, never turned into anything specific.

At the same time, it was already openly said in 2007 that the fourth volume was being created, and these speculations lasted for several more years, regardless of the transfer of Free Radical under Crytek. It was not until 2012 – six years after the release of the third volume – that Crytek President Cevat Yerli stated that only fans of the original trilogy would play the game and no one else would show interest in it, so there was no need to speculate anymore and TimeSplitters forgot. So we’ll see if Deep Silver doesn’t change its mind and if the game really works out, but unlike previous attempts, this one is at least initially sanctioned by the official opinion of the developers and we don’t have to move only on the level of reflection.
