after the R5, the legendary car is back in a 100% electric version
Renault has just announced the upcoming launch of a 100% electric overhaul of the legendary 4L. Codenamed 4ever, this new model will debut alongside the electric version of the R5, also in the works.
If Renault had already confirmed the upcoming launch of a new R5 with an electric motor, the manufacturer had remained silent on the overhaul of the 4L. There were many rumors circulating about him, but there was no official information to take in. This is now the case! Indeed, the diamond brand has just detailed this Wednesday, June 30 its strategy concerning electricity.
Luca de Meo, current CEO of the company, took the opportunity to confirm the launch of a revisited and 100% electric 4L. Responding to the code name 4 Ever (forever in the language of Molière), this reissue will have the heavy task of giving a second life to this mythical vehicle from the manufacturer, which has sold more than 8 million units between 1960 and 1992, date of the cessation of production.

The Renault 4L goes electric from 2025!
To celebrate its sixtieth anniversary, the Renault 4L will therefore return in a 100% electric neo-retro version, just like what the brand intends to offer with the R5. According to the details of the boss of the French company, this new 4L will be based on the same platform as that used on the R5, that is to say CMF-BEV. Thanks to it, the brand will be able to reduce manufacturing costs by 33%, compared to those of Zoe.
“We promise up to 400 km in WLTP, without compromising on design, acoustics and dynamic behavior ”, assured Luca De Meo. Of course, the manufacturer has kept in silence many characteristics of the vehicle. It will be necessary to wait the presentation of a possible concept car in 2021 to learn more about the beast.
And don’t expect to see the production models anytime soon, Renault having already confirmed that they will not be available in concession until 2024 or 2025 depending on the progress of the project.
