After 15 years, Nintendo is making the fan dream come true
It wasn’t exactly the Metroid fans were expecting, but kind of the Metroid they’ve been waiting for. After 15 years, the fifth part of the Metroid series appears with Metroid Dread.

With Metroid Dread appears 19 years after its predecessor the Continuation of Metroid Fusion. Although Nintendo stopped numbering the games after Part Two Dread the fifth part of the series. It’s also been 19 years since Samus Aran was on a 2D platformer.
Lots of fans had news Metroid Prime 4 hoped (the other Metroid range). The Prime series, however, serves the genre of 3D adventure games.
Metroid Dread continues 19 years of history
The last part of the series appeared in 2002 with the name Metroid Fusion and is now finally being continued in Metroid Dread. Fusion was also the last 2D platformer for heroine Samus Aran. Metroid Dread was originally supposed to appear on Nintendo DS a good 15 years ago. Producer Yoshio Sakamoto explained in a video that 15 years ago the technology was simply not advanced enough to implement the idea of Metroid Dread.
Metroid Dread is being developed by Spanish studio MercurySteam in 2017 the remake of Metroid 2: Samus Returns realized. The game is supposed to bring the story of the previous four parts to an end, but according to Nintendo, the Metroid Dread prologue is designed in such a way that no prior knowledge is necessary.
As with the Metroid 2 remake, Dread much more action-packed and dynamic than the games that are two decades and older. This is ensured by recurring features such as free, stepless aiming and a counter-move in close combat to be able to parry attacks. New, for example, is a quick dash move that also uses the counter. During the E3 presentation, Nintendo exhibited tons of gameplay.
Release of Metroid Dread and information about Metroid Prime 4
Metroid Dread will be released on October 8, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch. The long-awaited Metroid Prime 4 was also briefly mentioned, but Nintendo only assured that it would continue to work hard on the game. Otherwise there was no new information.
