Administrators in WhatsApp will get an extra function: they will be able to do this soon

WhatsApp continues to expand its popular messaging app with new features. Now a new feature for admins is coming, which gives the ability to decide who can join a group.

Read on after the ad.

WhatsApp admin feature

WhatsApp announced the new features in a blog post. The messaging service wants to give group admins more control over who can join a group. Groups are where people have some of their most intimate conversations and it’s important that admins can easily decide who can and can’t enter.

In groups where people are invited via a link, there will be an option that requires group admins to approve new members before they join the group. So if you receive an invite to a group, you may have to wait for permission to join the group.

Common groups

Another new feature is that it will be possible to see which groups you have in common with a WhatsApp user. This can be done by simply searching WhatsApp on the name of a contact. Of course, the list only shows groups that you are a member of.

We want to make it easier to know which groups you have in common with someone. “Whether you’re trying to remember the name of a group you know you share with someone, or want to see the groups you’re both in, you can now simply search for a contact’s name to see your common groups.”

The features will roll out globally in the coming weeks, for both iOS and Android. It’s not the only new feature in recent weeks. WhatsApp, for example, already announced that groups can be given an expiration date, whereby they automatically disappear after a chosen period. Also new is that you will soon be able to edit WhatsApp messages, voice messages will be converted into text and more. More WhatsApp tips can be found below:
