A Nintendo Entertainment System that could kill you

Youtuber Electrosync has built a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) that can saw up watermelons and beer cans. It could also be dangerous for people if they are not careful.

The project is inspired by the competitive combat robot scene. Here the Youtuber would like to have the converted NES compete in the so-called Beetle weight class in show matches. These are combat robots weighing up to 1.36 kilograms.

Electrosync documented the construction of the robot step by step in a video:

Nintendo parts have to go

In order to create space and save weight, the inside of the old console had to give way. All that remained of the original NES was the shell, which is intended to serve as armor for the combat robot.

Die-hard NES lovers shouldn’t like this at all, since the Youtuber used an original Nintendo Entertainment System for his robot. After the interior was removed, there was room for the parts that make up the combat robot.

It rides on two wheels, each connected to a small motor. A rotating circular saw serves as a weapon. Like many other parts, the hobbyist first created them on a 3D printer, but then realized that you can’t do that much damage with a plastic saw.

He then got a small saw blade from the hardware store that fit into the combat robot. This extends out of the slot in which the games are otherwise inserted.

Robot can do damage

Electrosync has named its robot the “NEStroyer”, a neologism of NES and Destroyer – and that’s exactly what it does. In a few tests, he pitted the NEStroyer against a watermelon, a made-up NES game, and a beer can. The converted console can easily assert itself against the watermelon and the beer can. In the NES game, however, she fails because the saw blade just gets stuck on her.

At the end of the video, the YouTuber teases that this is just the beginning. The NEStroyer is set to compete against its arch-rival, the Sega Master System. We are excited to see when that will happen.
