A free PS5 update for God of War -apkrig will be released today
The Santa Monica Studio team has announced that God of War from 2018 will see a PS5 update for Sony’s new console today. The developers revealed that they were pleased with how many people tried their older game on the new system for backward compatibility, as well as the fact that thanks to the PlayStation Plus Collection, many players got to their last game for the first time.
The free update on the PlayStation 5 console combines both modes into one and offers the best of both.
Since then, the studio has been working on a special graphics mode that will allow it to get even more out of more powerful hardware. On the PS4 Pro, we have a choice between two modes – one prioritizes performance, the other resolution. From today, however, a special free update will be available, which combines both modes into one on the PlayStation 5 console and offers the best of both.
In practice, this means 60 frames per second and a resolution of 4K (checkerboard). But if you want, you can go back to the original 30 fps at high resolution. For example, if for some reason the higher framerate does not suit you.
Who will be next?
As the players found out earlier, 4K and 60 fps could be reached in an unofficial way, but paradoxically with the non-patch version of the disc, similar to The Last Guardian. It is generally believed that The Last of Us Part II could see a similar update or regular next-gen version. But the Days on PS5 is also worth Days Gone or Ghost of Tsushima, and they didn’t get a regular next-gen upgrade.
Santa Monica Studio, meanwhile, is working on a sequel to God of War, whose speculated subtitle could be Ragnarök, which is also the expected theme of the game. The game is confidently aimed at the PS5 console, but it is still unclear whether, like Horizon Forbidden West, the PS4 version will not be available.
