Sony announces Xperia event: Xperia 1 IV expected
On May 11, Sony is expected to announce a new top device. The company is holding an Xperia event on May 11 and is very clearly hinting at a flagship. It is expected to be the Xperia 1 IV and we are discussing what has already been leaked about the phone.
Sony Xperia 1 IV Launch
In a teaser video on YouTube, Sony announces that it is time to show a new smartphone to the world. It is the next flagship of the Xperia 1 series, presumably the Xperia 1 IV, which makes the brand stand out clearly. We see footage again of the launch of older devices from the flagship series and the video ends with the sentence: “Next ONE is coming”. Sony is going to announce its premium phone on May 11.
We already have an idea of what Sony will present with the Xperia 1 IV, because the first renders of the device were leaked last month by a reliable source. It has the recognizable design of Sony phones with a 21:9 screen. The panel is again a 4K display with a size of 6.5 inches and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
New 50MP camera and 8K video
It is striking that Sony also continues to stick to the 3.5 mm audio jack and the fingerprint scanner again has a place on the side as part of the power button. The Google Assistant button has disappeared on this phone.

The camera consists of three camera lenses and there is again a periscope camera that should ensure a decent optical zoom range. The brand is rumored to equip the Xperia 1 IV with a new 50MP camera sensor capable of recording video at 8K resolution.
The Xperia 1 IV will be the first device that Sony will launch since the Xperia Pro-I with its 1-inch camera sensor. We were able to test that camera phone along with the Pixel 6 Pro. The Xperia 1 III was for sale last year for 1,299 euros, but it is not known what suggested retail price its successor will receive.
