Samsung starts rolling out March update for the Galaxy A51 and M21
Samsung has started rolling out the security update for the Samsung Galaxy A51 and for the Galaxy M21. The security patch fixes more than 50 security and privacy issues. In addition, it is expected that the devices will soon receive Android 12 with One UI 4.1.
Samsung Galaxy A51 and M21
The Samsung Galaxy A51 is best known for its modern design, the beautiful 6.5-inch Full HD + AMOLED panel and the extensive camera island with, among other things, a good 48 MP main camera, 12 MP wide-angle lens and 5 MP macro camera. This, in combination with a favorable price tag, resulted in one of the best smartphones from 2020 if you look at price-quality ratio. This made the Samsung Galaxy A51 one of the best-selling Android smartphones of 2020.
The Galaxy M21 especially had to impress with its large 6000 mAh battery in combination with, again, a favorable price tag. In addition, the device has a 48 MP main camera, which is assisted by an 8 MP wide-angle lens and a 5 MP depth sensor. The device also has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel
Updates until 2023
An update for both devices is currently being rolled out in India, Sri Lanka and in South American countries, Sammobile reports. Here they get the firmware version M215FXXS2BVB7 (Galaxy M21) and M515FXXS4CVC1 (Galaxy A51). It is not yet known when the March update will arrive in the Netherlands and Belgium, but it is expected that it would not be long in coming.
Earlier it was reported that the Samsung Galaxy A51 will receive one security update every six months from last February. This compared to every three months, which the device first received. However, the Galaxy A51 will benefit from Samsung’s improved update policy. The device will receive four years of security updates and three major Android upgrades. This means that the device will receive Android upgrades up to and including Android 13 and security updates up to and including 2023.
Install update
You can manually check on your M21 or A51 whether you have already received the update. You do this as follows: Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.
