Nikkei Asia ‘Selling iPhone SE 2022 not as expected’
Apple would stop production of the new iPhone SE 2022 a few weeks after its launch. The reason, if we are to believe Nikkei Asia, is the low demand for the iPhone SE 3. This, according to this website, is caused by the global tensions in geopolitics around Russia and Ukraine.
According to Nikkei Asia’s report, based on unnamed sources, Apple has told its suppliers to supply two or three million fewer parts for the production of the iPhone SE 2022 this quarter. We can therefore cautiously conclude that the presales of this budget phone from Apple have also been 3 million lower than expected.
Production of the iPhone 13 series and some unspecified AirPods has also been scaled down. However, according to Nikkei Asia, this is due to the change in the season and has nothing to do with the threat of a global war.
Kuo: iPhone SE 3 production has been reduced by 10 million
Notable, however, is the story of another Apple analyst named Ming-Chi Kuo. This leaker is often right about Apple rumors. He estimates in a tweet Apple needs to cut production and sales of the iPhone SE 2022 from 25 to 30 million to about 15 to 20 million units.
