Apple and Prepear negotiate deal over pear logo complaint

Apple and Prepear are in negotiations over the pear-shaped logo case. In August, Apple attacked the Canadian company and opposed its trademark application. The manufacturer believed the pear logo to be similar to its logo. The case is evolving today.

Apple and Prepear submitted a document in which they announce that they are actively discussing. Both groups are calling for the trial to be suspended for 30 days. However, either of them can end the break at any time. In all cases, the procedure will automatically be relaunched on January 23 … unless the two parties reach an agreement.

For Apple, Prepear’s pear-shaped logo “Consists of a minimalist design of fruit with a leaf at right angles”. The manufacturer says that the pear “Easily recalls the famous Apple logo and creates a similar business impression”. Prepear had started a petition asking for help from internet users. It lists more than 250,000 signatures to date.

A trial will take place in 2021 if no agreement is reached between Apple and Prepear. It will start in March with the first elements of the investigation. A request for a hearing will not take place until December.
