Firefox 97 is available: the list of new features
Mozilla now offers Firefox 97 as a stable version for download. This isn’t a big update, it only includes a handful of new features. The new version is available on Windows, macOS and Linux.
New in Firefox 97
Firefox 97 supports the new style of scrollbars on Windows 11, which means the browser integrates better with the rest of Microsoft’s operating system. While the scrollbars haven’t exactly broken the browser experience, it’s still nice to see them blend in a bit better with the rest of the operating system.
Another change concerns users with a Mac. Mozilla explains that it has made improvements to the loading of macOS fonts, which makes it faster to open and switch to new tabs in certain situations.
Finally, Firefox 97 marks the end of the 18 colorful themes that were introduced with version 94. It marks the end of a set of special, time-limited features. However, you can keep your favorite color palette, provided you use it by the expiration date. In other words, if a colorway is enabled in the Theme Manager, that colorway will stay in place.
Firefox 97 is available now for download from the Mozilla site.
