T-Mobile is taking action: unvaccinated people are kicked out
T-Mobile is giving its office workers in the US a choice: either they present a vaccination against the corona virus by April, or they have to look for a new job. The regulation does not apply in Germany.
T-Mobile USA: Those who are unvaccinated face termination
T-Mobile has sent a circular to its office staff in the USA. It makes it clear that vaccination is mandatory, when employees return to their offices as planned in April 2022. Before that, other restrictions already apply: Anyone who has only received a single dose of vaccination by February 21, 2022 must expect unpaid leave from this point in time.
According to the letter, the announcement only relates to the USA, so German employees are not affected. Unvaccinated employees are at risk of being fired if they work in US offices where a Key card required for entry will (source: Bloomberg).
However, unvaccinated employees may be able to make use of a “special regulation”.. “Certain roles and locations” are probably excluded from the vaccination requirement. However, T-Mobile does not go into detail here.
Myths about vaccination debunked:
in the retail trade T-Mobile is not quite so strict. Although employees are also supposed to submit proof of their first vaccination by February 21, unpaid leave or later termination are apparently not planned. T-Mobile does not want to “impair the shopping experience for customers,” it says.
Vaccination: US companies are taking action
Not only T-Mobile, but also some other companies are currently giving their employees in the USA a choice. Google is threatening unvaccinated employees with a three-step plan with termination. Corona tests should are no longer accepted. At Intel, on the other hand, there should be no layoffs, but those who refuse to vaccinate must expect severe consequences here too.
