Netflix is far from done with Masters of the Universe
The adoption of Masters of the Universe on Netflix was just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot more to come.
You can’t just go to the usual movies on Netflix. Anime is also well represented on the American streaming service. Netflix continues to invest in a diverse range. Which brings us to the Masters of the Universe. A world made by Mattel, just like you can see Marvel and DC worlds as something special.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation is currently on Netflix for two seasons. But it doesn’t stop there. Netflix and Mattel team up again to make a live-action film of this world. The streaming service is expected to begin production of the film this summer.
The brothers Nee (Aaron and Adam Nee) will direct the film, while David Callaham will take on the writing. Callaham is known for, among other things, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. So not the least names. It is not yet known when the film will be shown on Netflix. That could take a year or two. Not much is known about the plot yet.
For Netflix there is a challenge to turn this live-action film into something successful. Not every live action is just a success on the service. Think of the recent flop Cowboy Bebop from 2021.
