Will Pixel 7 be as special as Pixel 6? The first leaks say yes
Last year, Google introduced the exceptional Pixel 6 series, which attracted a lot of attention. Lots of positive – new design, better sensors, new processor, but also negative – new bugs, serious hardware problems and the like. In the meantime, however, Google is definitely working on the new generation of Pixel 7, and we’ve already been able to get the first information. The message is provided by the PhoneArena portal.
Pixel 7 with the new Tensor processor will take cameras to a new level
Already this year’s Tensor processor brought great new features – higher machine learning performance, new AI features for cameras, but also for the system. The successor to this processor (Tensor 2.0?) Will bring at least a more powerful and better ISP (Image Signal Processor). This is the part of the processor that handles the information from the cameras.
This information is somewhat revealing the status of Google’s CEO, Mike and Coulter on Linkedin. It states: “I am looking for employees in San Diego, where we are based. It’s a full-time ISP design and verification work for cameras at all levels for a new team in San Diego. ”
The continuation of the status is also interesting: “If you are interested, write me directly in the news. This is an opportunity to be part of the team that brought you the Google Tensor SoC for Pixel 6. ” One more thing that concerns San Diego – there is also a large and famous company Qualcomm, which manufactures processors as well as ISP chips for most mobile phones. So basically Google is going to fight Qualcomm in terms of acquiring new but also experienced talent.
By the way, Coulter himself spent four years at Qualcomm as vice president of engineering. So if you are looking for quality employees, the most important thing is the location – to be where most of them live.
Pixel fans have something to look forward to
The upcoming Tensor chip already has an internal designation – Cloudripper. It is possible that the processor will be announced even before we see Pixel 7. If Google manages to significantly improve the ISP chip, it could beat this year’s strongest competition by leaps and bounds.
If you are a fan of Google, resp. Pixels, so this is good news for you. One can only hope that Google will not go wrong and that their devices will not come on the market full of bugs and bugs, as has been the case with almost every new series of Pixels.
