Proceed quietly & with a silencer
Rainbow Six remains Rainbow Six, even with an alien opponent. Proceed tactically and preferably quietly, so uses stealth for the most part. A must-have is the silencer on at least one of your weapons.
You want to avoid being spotted and thus attracting a large horde of enemies. You will also receive bonus XP per kill in stealth mode. Killing it with a suppressor already counts as a stealth kill, earning you some extra XP.
In addition, you always have 15 minutes for each subzone of a map for the respective goal, for the most part the time is easily enough. So take your time and don’t run blindly into the opponents.
Takedowns are (almost) always one-hit kills
Takedowns are enforcers that let you kill any enemy with just a single hit. For this you have to sneak behind your enemy and press R3/RS (PS/Xbox).
Alternatively, you can also use smoke or stun grenades. With these two grenades, each opponent becomes unable to maneuver for a short time and you can perform a takedown on the respective enemy.
Important: The only exception are elite opponents. On this objective, takwdowns are not one-hit kills!
Adapt your equipment & operators to the goal
When you start an incursion, you can see in advance the three targets of the respective subzone and the ruling mutation (if any). After that you can choose your operator and equip him. Do not see the screen of the three goals as a loading screen, already pay attention to your goals and prepare your approach here.
Depending on your goal, you should adjust your equipment and your operator accordingly. Each operator can shine differently with his ability in different situations and thus bring the decisive advantage. For example, Tachanka and Jäger are good for defending zones.
Shoot away the black outgrowth
The black outgrowth or slime can be quite annoying, as it greatly affects your mobility and slows you down extremely. He’s pretty easy to take down though: just shoot him and he’ll dissipate within a certain radius. Important: Of course, only shoot him away if you have a silencer equipped, otherwise you will attract enemies.
At milestone level 25 you will receive the REACT Laser. It is automatically attached to all your weapons. Once you have him, you can toggle between him and the UV light on the rifle and he will switch. The REACT laser can also remove the black slime. So you don’t have to shoot him anymore.
If you don’t like objectives, just evacuate
Your mission objectives are randomly generated, there are 9 different objectives in total. Some of them are easier than others, especially for solo players. If you don’t like the respective objectives, just stay at your spawn point and wait about 5 seconds. You can then simply evacuate directly and thus end the mission.
This form of quitting does not entail any penalty. Just start a new mission and hope that the objectives and the possible mutations suit you better. Above all, the series scan and the portal are very tedious and difficult on higher levels of difficulty, especially for solo players.
Watch your watch
The watch on your wrist can quickly get lost in the tutorial. It’s always on your arm, no matter what operator you’re playing. As soon as an enemy approaches and is close enough to you, the clock will tick and change color from blue to red. Of course, red means that there is a potential danger in your vicinity.
The clock is a useful gadget, especially for solo players.
Don’t be too greedy
If you fail a mission and you lose an operator, there are consequences for you. You will then notice that nNot only does your operator lose 30% of their accumulated XP, but also that your milestone progress decreases by 30%.
So you should always play it safe and evacuate too early rather than too late. Before you enter the next subzone of an area, you should always check your resources and your life points and evaluate whether it’s really worth going on. Sometimes the risk is just too high and that’s why you should rather leave with the gained XP.
Important: Once an operator is at max level 10, he no longer loses progress. Until then, though, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Use the Lean
This mechanic is nothing new to veterans of the series, but it might be new to newcomers. You can lean left and right as usual when aiming in Rainbow Six Extraction. This allows you to look better into a room and explore it better without being noticed. In addition, you can already eliminate a few possible dangers in the room.
When aiming, simply press L3/LS to lean left and R3/RS to lean right.
Eliminate the blind spores from your comrades
Blindspores are small, glowing yellow spheres. If you get too close to them, they cling to you. After a certain time, they explode and cloud your entire view. Unfortunately, if you decide to play solo, there’s nothing you can do about it.
However, if you are in a team, you can eliminate the spores stuck to your comrades. You either shoot them or remove them with a melee attack.
