Data center boom: Irish power grid on the verge of collapse

Nowhere in Europe are new data centers being built faster than in Ireland. This poses major problems for the local power grid. Politicians are now calling for construction to be halted for several years.

There are already around 70 data centers in Ireland. And the demand is growing all the time. When used appropriately, a single one of these data centers consumes as much electricity as 80,000 households. The consumption of all data centers currently adds up to 900 megawatts.
