Why you should play Grand Theft Auto Online again today
Almost nine years later, Rockstar Games has again released a major update for Grand Theft Auto Online that should bring the game back to life.
Last week, Rockstar Games came relatively unexpectedly with the announcement of a new update for Grand Theft Auto Online. Hardcore GTA enthusiasts then think: yes, logical, there are two updates in GTA every year and the second is usually around this time. It is unexpected because the game is now almost in its ninth year and a slightly improved version of GTA for the next generation of consoles has already been announced.
New Grand Theft Auto Online Update
That is still a bit of a future, because first Grand Theft Auto Online will be refreshed again with an update. We already knew it would revolve around the return of Franklin, the original character from Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, and that there would be a guest star from Dr. Dre comes. Now there is more concrete information, because the update was launched today. This is what you can expect as new content in Grand Theft Auto Online: Contracts.
The base
Let’s put in some disclaimers in case you haven’t touched GTA in years. The update only applies to Grand Theft Auto Online, the multiplayer version of GTA V. You can download the update for PS4, PS5, Xbox One (and S/X), Series (S/X), and PC. The update is about 4 GB in size. If you’ve never touched GTA Online, it’s going to be hard to conjure up enough money out of nowhere to play this update well. Almost everything that has been added costs millions, and they are not always easy to earn. That aside.
The Agency
The first new addition is a new building that you can buy. The Agency is Franklin’s office building that you can co-own. You will then have access to a building from which you can start the new missions with Dr. Dre can start. The building also has a weapon room, a sitting and sleeping area for your character and a garage where you can store 20 cars. The cheapest Agency costs about 2 million dollars, the most expensive costs about 2.8 million and then you have to add some things.
cars
No Grand Theft Auto Online update is complete with new cars for purchase. As always, there are still new cars that will be added along the way, but for now it’s seven new vehicles. These all have cool GTA names, but are based on cars like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Lamborghini Sián, Aston Martin Victor and Bentley Flying Spur. A nice addition for the veteran players, you can buy a brand new GTA version of the Dodge Charger, the car Franklin has in the original GTA V storyline.
Upgrade
Of course you can personalize every car to taste, but there are also a few nice new additions. In GTA it sometimes happens that someone starts shooting at you with missiles. Some of the new cars have been modified by The Agency in such a way that you can install a diversion for these missiles. You don’t have that problem anymore. Also nice is a kind of James Bond-like ‘remote control mode’, with which you can control the car without being in it yourself. Improved armor is also an option for some of the new cars.
Missions
You don’t need to buy the new cars in Grand Theft Auto Online to play the missions in The Agency. For that you have to log into the computer in the building and do some preparatory work. After that Franklin will invite you over and start the storyline. We’re not going to cut too much grass for your feet, but you should Dr. Help Dre persuade some bad friends his way. We can already reveal that this is not exactly possible with a cup of coffee in the middle.
As mentioned, the update has already been released worldwide and all you have to do is install 4 GB. Hopefully this will bring some life to the brewery, because we have to wait a while for GTA 6 (or VI).
