WhatsApp is working on messages that automatically disappear after 90 days
WhatsApp launched the Expired Messages feature last year. These are sent messages that disappear automatically after seven days. That term now appears to be extended.
Automatically disappearing messages
Since the end of the year, you can indicate for each individual conversation whether messages automatically disappear after seven days. Unfortunately, you cannot determine yourself how long the period of time with which messages disappear. Fortunately, WhatsApp has been working on another option since April, a term of 24 hours and now a term of 90 days has been added, WABetaInfo reports. Once enabled, the new messages sent in chat will disappear after 24 hours or 90 days.
The 24 hours and 90 days options are not yet available in the latest version of WhatsApp, but will likely be added to the app in a future update. As with all new WhatsApp features, the new disappearing messages options will come to the beta version of the app first before making their way to everyone. Enable Expired Messages
Each of the users can enable messages with expiration dates in an individual chat. In a group conversation, only the administrator can do this. Once enabled, the messages in the chat disappear after seven days.
- Open the WhatsApp chat
- Tap your contact’s name
- Tap “Messages with Expiration Date”
- If prompted, tap ‘Continue’
- Select ‘On’
