Ericsson has created an extraordinary edition of its periodical Mobility Report, which at the end of 2021 looks back at statistics from the world of mobile networks and technology over the past ten years. He has been publishing this report since 2011. In the jubilee issues, you can find a lot of interesting things that point to it huge consumer and development boom in this area. For example, it has been shown that the volume of data transferred via mobile devices has increased almost threefold in a decade.

- The number of smartphone users has increased by 5.5 billion since 2011.
- In the third quarter of 2021, more data was transferred via mobile devices than in the entire history until the end of 2016.
- By the end of 2027 it is expected that 4.4 billion devices connected via 5G will be in operation, which should be half of all mobile devices.
- Since 2011, the volume of data transferred via mobile devices has increased almost 300 times.
- According to current forecasts, 5G technology is expected to become the dominant way to connect mobile devices to the Internet by 2027.
- The report shows that the life cycle of 5G technology will be much faster in terms of technology advancement. Today, 5G devices account for 23 percent of global volume, although for 4G it was only 8 percent at the same life cycle stage.
- The volume of data transferred on mobile networks increased by 42 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2021 to approximately 78 EBs (ExaBytes).
- According to new estimates, the total volume of mobile data traffic by the end of 2027 it will probably climb to 370 EB.
- New estimates confirm that we will have a significant acceleration of large-scale IoT deployments in the coming years. By 2027, massive IoT deployments are expected to account for 51 percent of all IoT mobile connections.
