The new chipset will significantly improve photos

We could see the design of the news a long time ago with a performance, so it probably won’t surprise anyone. The most striking feature of it is the protruding camera module with sensors in a horizontal position, which is spread across the entire width of the smartphone. The main pride of the new smartphones is its own 5 nm Google Tensor chipset, which was developed by Google in cooperation with Samsung. The chipset has an eight-core processor with two Cortex-X1 cores. This is the first ARM chipset with more than one Cortex-X1 core. Another plus of the chipset is its own image processor, which in cooperation with elements of artificial intelligence raises photography to a new level.

For example, Magic Eraser automatically removes distractions from photos. Face Unblur, in turn, selects a sharp face from multiple photos and inserts it into the action shot. Portrait mode can now better separate photographed characters from other subjects and also better render skin tone. Night mode and astrophotography were to undergo significant improvements.

The cameras of both smartphones use a 1 / 1.3-inch 50-megapixel Samsung GN1 sensor with optical stabilization and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The version also has a 48-megapixel telephoto sensor with 4x optical zoom. The resulting photos from the primary sensor, which can capture 150% more light than previous-generation sensors, are 12.5 megapixels.

Smart features, large batteries and fast charging

Live Translate can translate messages, subtitles or text in the camera’s viewfinder in up to 55 languages. Thanks to the Tensor chipset, seamless translation into French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish is also possible offline. The chipset also includes a Titan M2 security chip, which protects your photos, texts and sensitive data. The custom chipset will allow Google to provide smartphones with a 5-year system update guarantee.

The AMOLED display of the smaller model has 6.4 inches, FHD + resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. For the model, it offers a curved 6.71-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The displays have a hole for a selfie camera and finally an optical fingerprint sensor, which Google has avoided for years.

In previous generations of Pixels, the capacity of their batteries and thus their endurance was often criticized. Google probably finally realized this, so they have a new battery with a capacity of 4600 mAh and 5000 mAh, respectively. They are charged by 30 W fast charging via USB-C connector or wireless charging. It has a power of 21 W in the basic version and 23 W in the Pro version.

Both models will be sold in two memory variants – 128 GB and 256 GB. Google Pixel 6 will be available in black, coral and green-blue for a price starting at 649 euros. The higher model Google Pixel 6 Pro will go on sale in black, white and yellow for a price starting at 898 euros.

With their parameters, the new Pixels can stand up to the best smartphone on the market. Their competitors will be, for example, models of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. From the point of view of cameras, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, Huawei P50 Pro and Sony Xperia 1 III are also strong rivals.
