Revenge porn, Deepfake … when sex made public ravages private lives
There was a time when porn didn’t have clicks. In 1995, the sextape starring Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s lovemaking made the headlines. The most fervent admirers of the naiad ofBaywatch and the group’s drummer Mötley Crüe then threw themselves on the pirate VHS which appeared on the market. A precedent which appealed to others featuring Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian for example. Leaks of private videos that only touched celebrities who were sometimes even secretly the instigators. ” There are no bad ads As the saying goes. Except that it sometimes falls on Mr. or Mrs. Everybody who sees his life destroyed in a few days because of the revenge porn or a deepfake a little too successful.
Revenge porn: when video is the subject of debate
Filming yourself in the middle of sex is not uncommon and many couples are used to the practice. Where the shoe pinches is when the video ends up on a pornographic site and is made public. It must be said that the platforms in question are not very careful about the origin of the videos that can be shared there. These private moments can also be sent by email or otherwise. The goal is above all to humiliate one of the two parties present on the sequence. It must be said, in this kind of situation, it is more often a man who takes revenge on a woman than on the contrary.

This practice can also destroy public figures. We remember the Benjamin Griveaux affair. The politician candidate of La République en Marche for mayor of Paris had found his back to the wall after the disclosure of an intimate video. In the eye of the media storm, he finally withdrew his candidacy and saw his career on hiatus. These last years, complaints about the dissemination of sexual images without consent have only increased. There were 2,564 procedures in France in 2018 against 2,839 in 2019, an increase of more than 10%. The phenomenon is also spreading among the youngest and can sometimes have terrible consequences for high school students who find themselves exposed to the eyes sometimes of an entire establishment. This is how we have seen many cases of blackmail on the webcam. A lot of psychological work must be done behind and many teenagers have no other choice but to change high school so as not to suffer this other face of cyber-harassment. This crime is however registered in the penal code since 2016 and the culprits face up to 2 years in prison and a fine of 60,000 euros.
Deepfake: to lose your mind
There are many apps that allow you to take a picture of yourself and stick your face to that of celebrities in movies. What a joy to see yourself as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean or in Wolverine in X-men ! The problem with this technology known as Deepfake, when is it the drifts stick your face on those of pornographic actors and actresses. The phenomenon particularly affects the most famous actresses, from Gal Gadot to Natalie Portman to Scarlett Johansson, who find themselves in positions in which we are not used to seeing them in the cinema. The problem of deepfakesis that technology has made them very easy to make today. Lately the site MIT Technology Review published an article about a website allowing you to make deepfakes in a few clicks. There too, even if it is often obvious that the videos offered are fake, the victims are always very marked by the experience. In addition, nothing prevents criminals from using the faces of minors. And of course 90% of these deepfakes feature women. As the revenge porn, the dissemination of pornographic montages without consent is punishable by law, with penalties of up to one year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros.
As always we ask how many women & girls need to die before we act? #Deepfake porn can destroy the life of any woman & girl and is getting increasingly easy for misogynistic men to produce. The normalization of ordinary porn has society numb to the danger:https://t.co/WkryEtPCin.
