This retractable electric car can park almost anywhere!
Have you ever encountered parking problems? Specifically, when the space is too tight for you to park in? An Israeli company offered a solution to no longer worry about parking spaces: a foldable car.
More precisely, the car offered by the City Transformer company is an automobile capable of retracting its tires in order to gain a few extra centimeters. This atypical car is called: CT1.
By retracting the tires, this electric car will only be one meter wide
It is the first car designed by this Israeli company. Unveiled a few weeks ago, this car prides itself on being able to park even in small spaces. Its chassis can effectively fold up on itself while keeping the vehicle in motion.
Indeed, in its normal form, we see the wheels of the CT1 protruding on the sides. However, if the driver pushes a single button then the wheels will fold down and the vehicle will only be one meter wide.
90 km / h in normal mode against 40 km / h maximum in compact mode
But this retracted form is not without consequences for the vehicle. On the one hand, the car becomes quite unstable in compact mode, and on the other hand, this narrowed shape does not allow you to exceed 40 km / h in speed. In normal mode, the car can travel up to 90 km / h.
Note that the CT1 is also an electric car with a range of between 120 to 180 km for a recharge. And its battery charges to 80% in just 30 minutes.
The CT1 was presented in September 2021 at the IAA mobility fair in Munich, Germany. And to believe the company, this ” first foldable urban vehicle Will go into limited production in 2022 before mass production from 2024.
