WhatsApp Desktop now has a beta. When you sign up for this, you can be one of the first to get started with new WhatsApp features. That’s how you participate.

WhatsApp Desktop beta starts: this is how you participate

You can now join the WhatsApp Desktop beta. Enthusiastic chat app users can be the first to take advantage of new features in the Mac and Windows applications. Participating is very simple:

  1. Grab your Mac (or Windows PC);
  2. Go to WhatsApp’s official beta website;
  3. Download the beta program and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Did everything succeed? Top! You are now participating in the public beta of WhatsApp Desktop. You can now be one of the first to get started with all kinds of new, experimental features.

The chat app uses beta programs to test new features with a large audience before actually rolling out the update. This is where the disadvantage of the WhatsApp Desktop beta lies: the program is less stable than the ‘normal’ version.

If you run into problems, you should report them to WhatsApp. You can do this via the settings menu of the desktop app.

The future of iPad

A lot will change for WhatsApp in the coming period. For example, the Facebook subsidiary is working on a special app for the iPad. It’s self-contained and doesn’t rely on your iPhone’s internet connection as it does now.

The future of WhatsApp is therefore multiplatform. Your messages are synced in the background, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re using WhatsApp on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, the experience is pretty much the same everywhere.

Competing chat apps, such as Telegram, have had this feature for some time. In the article (and video) below we have listed more alternatives to WhatsApp.
