Magic Keyboard with Touch ID now also available separately
The online Apple Store has a new accessory richer: the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. It was already supplied with the new 24-inch iMac, but is now also available separately.
Magic Keyboard with Touch ID
There are two versions of the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. One with and one without numeric keypad. The version with numeric keypad costs 185 euros, for the smaller version you pay 159 euros. If you are quick, you will have the keyboard at home this week.
The built-in fingerprint scanner makes logging in to a Mac even faster. You can also use the Touch ID button to autofill your passwords, make purchases with Apple Pay, and more. The keyboard only works with M1 Macs. That means you need the latest iMac, MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro or Mac mini.
The accessory first appeared with the 24-inch iMac with M1 chip, which Apple launched in March this year. A Mac keyboard with Touch ID is not new. In 2016, the MacBook Pro was already the first with a fingerprint scanner. However, the keyboard of the 24-inch iMac was the first to use Touch ID wirelessly. By the way, this goes super fast; there is no noticeable speed difference.
Unfortunately, the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is only available in one color: silver. On the 24-inch iMac, the Magic Keyboard matches the color tone of the iMac. As a result, the keyboard is available in seven different colors, but only the silver-colored version is available separately.
More magic
Just about all Magic accessories have been refreshed. So is the Magic Keyboard without Touch ID, which now has rounded corners and modified function keys. The Magic Keyboard without Touch ID costs 109 euros.
The Magic Trackpad has also been slightly modified, with rounded corners. The accessories also have a new cable: USB-C to Lightning, instead of the traditional USB. This makes it easier to connect the accessory to your Mac.
The accessories can be ordered via the Apple website. Want to stay up to date with the latest Apple news? Then sign up for our free newsletter.
