Samsung Galaxy S21 can be unlocked with your voice
The Samsung Galaxy S21, due to be released in January, may be unlocked with your voice. Samsung would add this feature to the latest version of its One UI software, which is standard on the S21.

‘Unlock Samsung Galaxy S21 with your voice’
According to website Sammobile the Samsung Galaxy S21 gets a new unlocking option, allowing you to use your voice to ‘open’ the phone. This would work through Bixby, the manufacturer’s smart assistant found on many Samsung phones. Instead of using the fingerprint scanner or facial recognition to unlock the Galaxy S21, you do this via voice command.
The question is how safe the voice unlocking is. With a recording of your voice, others could still unlock the Galaxy S21, just as the facial recognition of many Android phones can be fooled with a photo. It is unclear whether and how Samsung will ensure that the function is still safe enough.
According to Sammobile, the voice unlock is part of version 3.1 of One UI, the software that Samsung puts over Android as standard. This may mean that the new function may also be released for other Samsung devices at a later date. The company probably only needs to release a software update for this.
What else we know about the Galaxy S21
We do not have to wait long for the new flagship anymore. According to rumors, Samsung is choosing to announce the Galaxy S21 earlier than its predecessors. Where Samsung normally opts for a presentation in February or March, the S21 would already be unveiled in January.
In addition, a lot has been leaked recently about the Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra. For example, the design came up in published renders and we know what the possible specifications of the devices are. For example, the entry-level model, the regular S21, would have an Exynos 2100 processor, plastic housing and 6.2-inch 120Hz screen.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra, which succeeds this year’s S20 Ultra, is said to be distinguished by the cameras. On the back, in addition to a 108 megapixel main camera, presumably also a wide-angle lens and no less than two telephoto lenses. You use it to zoom in considerably without loss of quality; According to leaked information, the S21 Ultra has 10x optical zoom.
