Facebook will make sure that people do not become extremists
Facebook is testing new challenges that ask users if they are worried that their friends will become extremists. It warns users that they may have been exposed to extremist content. The Phone Arena web portal informs about the report.
Facebook takes action against those who watch hate content on social networks
“This test is part of our more extensive work to evaluate ways to provide resources and support to people on Facebook who may have been involved or exposed to extremist content or may know someone at risk.” said Facebook spokesman Andy Stone.
Violent groups on social networks may reportedly try to manipulate our anger and reactions. It will now be possible to take steps to protect yourself and others. Andy Stone also confirmed that these test challenges are part of Facebook’s ongoing Redirect Initiative.
It aims to redirect users looking for hateful or violent content to educational resources. It is not clear what algorithms are used to recognize this particular type of user on social networks.
There have been a lot of bad things being said about Facebook over the last few years, in that it hasn’t done enough to deal with extremist and untrue content. Finally, in February of this year, Facebook shared that it had taken action against 26.9 million inappropriate hate speech.
