This week Androidworld is all about smarthome for beginners. We have also put the AW Poll in smart home mode, and you can now vote.

Smart home products at home

Half of Dutch households have one or more smart home products at home, according to this research published last month. A year ago, 42% of families had a smart home at home and two years ago, this was the case for 36 percent of families. The percentage is now 50%. There are also respondents who are not interested in smart home products, and this is mainly for two reasons: because the products are not satisfactory or because they still offer too little added value in the eyes of the respondents.

According to the researchers, most users are charmed by the convenience and extra comfort that smart devices offer, but a second notable reason is to cut costs. Take, for example, a smart thermostat – the third most popular category – that can help you use your energy more efficiently. Every year in our AW Poll we ask about your favorite smart home devices and you can read that smart lighting is number 2 here.
