It’s time again for the monthly free games that PlayStation gamers get with their PS Plus subscription. July’s PlayStation Plus games are a pleasant mix of badass blasting, a compelling story, good fighting and arcade button-pushing.

PlayStation Plus games – July 2021
Sony announces the lineup of free PlayStation Plus games for July in a blog post. PlayStation Plus subscribers can enjoy an interesting selection of games this month, including the all-time great Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Anyone who missed the hit shooter from 2018 can now enjoy the game completely free of charge. Of course this includes the single player, multiplayer, zombie mode and battle royale. Black Ops 4 is available for the PlayStation 4, but is also backwards compatible on PlayStation 5.

A Plague Tale: Innocence – PlayStation 5
This unprecedentedly atmospheric adventure game tells the story of a brother and sister during the Hundred Years War in France. Rats and enemy soldiers are constantly hunting you as you try to survive. The game combines a bombastic story with stealth gameplay and incredibly beautiful graphics.
WWE 2K Battlegrounds – PlayStation 4 (backwards compatible)
WWE 2K Battlegrounds brings the wrestling frenzy of WWE to a surprisingly accessible arena. The game puts show wrestling in the foreground, but combines it with fun arcade gameplay and a cartoonish art style.
Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown – PlayStation 4
Finally, the lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus in July will receive a small surprise, namely a game from June. The renowned Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is available for free for another month. Despite its relatively small fan base, this older fighting game is praised for its instinctive yet incredibly deep combat. In short, this is the ideal time for fighting games enthusiasts to check out this gem.
