Another PlayStation feature is now history

Sony continues to muck out. The PlayStation manufacturer had already announced some time ago that an online function would be canceled, now the grace period has expired. PlayStation fans will have to do without another feature from now on.

MyPlayStation no longer available in the browser: Sony cancels online function

First PlayStation discontinued the PS Vita messaging service, now another feature is going offline. As of June 28, 2021, players can no longer use the MyPlayStation web function via the browser. The feature grants you access to your game library, parties, friends, trophies and profile information and can now only be accessed via your PS4, PS5 or via the mobile app of your cell phone.

After all, not all MyPlaystation functions are deactivated for browser users. Only the social features and the display of your trophies have been deleted. Anyone who logs in online on the normal PlayStation website can still access their game library, initiate remote downloads and change their profile details – this is evident from an official blog entry.

Another PlayStation feature removed: Sony fans are used to it

The fact that Sony keeps putting the red pencil when it comes to old functions should come as no surprise to PlayStation gamers. In April, for example, the Communites function of the PS4 was deactivated, apps such as Facebook, YouTube or Skype are no longer supported on the PS Vita, and games for the PS3, PSP and PS Vita can no longer be played via the online or mobile store must be purchased through the console’s shop.

Actually, Sony wanted to completely stop the digital sale of the old consoles, but thanks to a great outcry from the community, it was persuaded to withdraw the decision.
