Live rooms allow video streams with 4 participants
No time right now?
Instagram is expanding IG Live TV to include the option of adding other participants to the stream. The new feature called Live Rooms could be suitable for talk shows or interactive formats.
Instagram is given the opportunity to hold a small talk on Instagram. Where previously only two people were allowed to broadcast on split-screen at the same time, there will be four in the future. The screen is then divided into four equal parts – and thus reaches the limits of what can be meaningfully displayed on smartphones.

4 people broadcast simultaneously via split screen
Instagram product manager Adam Mosseri first introduced the new function on Lilly Singh’s show “A Little Late” and showed it live. Meanwhile, Facebook has them too officially announced.
The feature is integrated into the app. One user takes the lead and invites the other participants. This can be done all at once or gradually. In this way, one or more guests can be added to a conversation that has already started. The invitees receive a notification that they have to approve. Then they find themselves in the stream and can talk to each other. All participants have individual access to the Instagram filter library.
Sales pitches and small talk sessions as a use case
In addition to interview rounds and other discussion groups, live rooms should be particularly suitable for e-commerce via video. Here, products could be demonstrated to several people at the same time and sold directly. It is quite possible that the Live Rooms will quickly develop into a much-used feature.
Facebook promises the “soon” availability of the function. It is to be rolled out globally – therefore also available in Germany.
