The best iPhone apps from last week
The Apple App Store works overtime every week. New apps, updates for existing applications and games are constantly appearing. You will probably not notice this, because the majority of the programs are not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separates the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. These are the best iOS apps, updates, and games from the past week.
Quill
Quill competes with apps like Slack, Microsoft Teams and other business apps. Quill wants to bring peace back to digital communication, with an app specially designed for this. The app does this by distinguishing between the types of channels that everyone can create. In the so-called Structured channels you can talk clearly about specific topics because every conversation consists of a thread.
Do you just want to chat with colleagues? Then you can open a social channel that behaves more like a traditional chat conversation. Quill is free to try and available for small teams, larger teams pay a monthly fee. In addition to iOS and macOS, the app is also available for Android, Windows and Linux.

Overcast
The popular podcast app Overcast has received a major update to the Apple Watch. It is now easier to sync podcasts that are stored locally on the watch, which is useful, for example, if you go for sports without an iPhone and still want to listen to something.
The entire design of the Watch app has also been overhauled. This makes the buttons easier to tap on the small screen of the watch. That immediately makes Overcast a valuable alternative for people who like to listen to podcasts via their smart watch.

Museum Alive
Fortunately, now that museums are closed there are apps like Museum Alive. With the voice of David Attenborough, this educational app turns your home or bedroom into a digital museum. The app uses augmented reality to place virtual objects in the real world, which you can then walk around.
The app lets you choose from three fossils, after which you will search for the story behind these animals together with Attenborough. The app needs iOS 13 and an iPhone X or newer to work and can be downloaded for a one-time fee of 3.49 euros.

Survival Z
Apple Arcade has an entertaining new game in the form of Survival Z. The Z clearly stands for ‘Zombies’ because this action game is teeming with them. In more than fifty levels, you choose from fifteen playable characters and try to keep the hordes of undead from your body.
Along the way you collect upgrades that make you stronger and you can also recruit teammates. You need a subscription to Apple Arcade to play this game. You can try Apple’s gaming service for free, but then pay five euros per month.
