Threads: putting ads “is not a priority at the moment”

Instagram boss Adam Mosseri says the group is in no rush to advertise on Threads, its new social network that already has 70 million users and rivals Twitter.

It was via a post on Instagram’s Threads that the leader mentioned the ad:

Honestly, it’s not our priority right now. We’re very touched by signups, but we need to make sure people want to keep using this app before we worry about making money…

This practice is not in itself very surprising. The group first wants to attract as many users as possible, then comes the time to take care of monetization. After all, there are already ads on Instagram with sponsored posts and stories. We can suspect that there are also sponsored posts between certain messages on Threads. It remains to be seen when this will be in place.

The platform was launched yesterday and the number of subscribers exceeds expectations, according to Mark Zuckerberg, the boss of Meta, parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads. The social network is not yet available in Europe because Meta must ensure that user data is respected. There is currently no information regarding a possible release date on the continent.
