When are the flames in Snapchat? Flames are awarded when you have exchanged at least one snap with a contact in three consecutive days. At least one Snap must be sent by both of you each day. The number next to the flame indicates how many days the flame has been active for you. So the longer you keep the snap streak going, the higher the number gets.
In some cases, the flame may disappear. Why is that and what can be done about it?
- The flames remain active as long as snaps are sent between two contacts.
- If the flame is gone, you will most likely have contacted the relevant person within the last 24 hours no snap sent or not get a snap back.
- Sending simple messages not enough off to keep the streak going.
- Snaps sent within a group, via Memories and Spectacles also do not count towards the streak.
- So keep an eye on the hourglass icon. This shows you how long a streak is still active before the flame symbol disappears.
Snapchat: flames gone despite snaps? restore possible
Also note that changing the date on the smartphone can cause the flames to disappear. If you have changed the system date and find that the streak has been interrupted, simply reset the setting. Normally, the “Fire & Flame” status should return. If you find that the flames have disappeared for no apparent reason and are sure you’ve snapped with your friends within the allotted time, contact Snapchat Support for assistance. It works like this:
- Choose the contact option in the Snapchat app or follow this link.
- In the next menu you select again “I lost my flames“.
- Scroll down a bit. Enter your Snapchat information into the form. This includes the username, email address, and cell phone number you provided for the Snapchat login. You must also provide the name of the contact with whom you lost the flames.
- When asked “Have you seen the hourglass icon” select “No“.
- You can describe your problem in the text field. State here that the flames suddenly disappeared without the hourglass showing, although you sent each other Snaps in good time. Then send your request to support.
Your request will then be processed. If an error is detected, you may get your flames back.
