Huawei: Apparently only a copy of its own OS

We all had quite a few expectations of Huawei’s own Harmony OS operating system. Your own operating system that you have been working on for several years and that, according to earlier statements, should even be significantly more powerful than Android? That sounds very promising at first and makes you want more.

ArsTechnica editor Ron Amadeo has now taken a closer look and registered as a developer for Harmony OS 2.0. His sober conclusion: Harmony OS is nothing more than a fork of Android 10, in which the references to Android have been half-heartedly deleted.
The switch from Android to Harmony OS should therefore have no effect on Huawei users, one way or another you won’t have access to the Google Play Store on new devices thanks to the US sanctions against the company.

And this situation is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Sanctions against Huawei could continue

According to an article by Bloomberg, Huawei will remain on the list of sanctioned companies under the new Biden government, at least according to Biden’s nominee trade secretary Gina Raimondo.
She currently sees no reason why Huawei and other companies should not remain on the list of restricted companies.

PS5: Sony fixes issues

If you’ve got your own hands on a PlayStation 5, you’ve probably encountered a problem.
If you bought a title from the PlayStation Store that was already playable on the PS4, the matching PS4 version was automatically installed in addition to the PS5 version.
Of course, this has consequences for the memory. Since there is only 825 GB available for games and the memory cannot be expanded for PS5 titles at the moment, every gigabyte counts here.
This problem is said to have been fixed with the February patch of the PS5.
