Instagram is chasing TikTok and working on vertical Stories

Instagram is working on a new way of viewing Stories. You can now scroll the story function horizontally, but that can change just like that. Credit to TikTok.

It seems Instagram is working on a change for Instagram Stories. You can still scroll horizontally through the different stories, but it may just be that that will change soon. We are working on an option that will let you scroll vertically through the stories. This feature is reminiscent of TikTok.

The discovery was made by a developer, who discovered in the source code of the app that the function is being worked on. The photo service reports to TechCrunch that the feature is indeed under development. This is an early prototype and is not available to the public.

It is not known whether Instagram will roll out the functionality to everyone. Instagram may be testing it earlier among a group of users. It now looks like a function that you can activate manually and is therefore not necessarily mandatory.
