‘Google Maps gets a new screen for routes’
Thanks to the lockdown, you probably won’t have to use Google Maps as often anymore, but if you do, you may find a redesigned user interface in the app.
Google Maps with new route screen
The new layout, which appears to be currently being tested, fits the route options screen in Google Maps so that it is a little easier to understand. Instead of a big white bar at the top, you see a floating route options screen that contains only your starting point and destination. The different ways of traveling such as driving, cycling, walking, public transport are no longer displayed. These options can now be found in the new interface in the lower screen. There you will also find options like avoiding toll roads and highways.

Not everyone can appreciate the new layout of the route screen. In the old situation it is easier to compare travel times and other information for different modes of transport. In the new screen, that information can be easily overlooked. For the time being, it is a test and the new screen is not yet visible in the editorial office.
