These are the new products from AVM (+podcast)

During the MWC 2023 we will not only visit the stands of the smartphone manufacturers, but we will also look at other products. One of these products is the router, an important device that everyone has in their home.

Prepared for fiberglass

Fiber optic is making an unstoppable advance in the Netherlands. In 2019, only 180,000 households still used fiber, but in 2022 that number had risen to 2.12 million households. So there is a good chance that you already have fiber optic or will get it in the foreseeable future.

Fritz!Box 5690 Pro

During the IFA AVM presented the Fritz!Box 5690 Pro. A router intended for DSL and fiber optic users. This router is especially useful for DSL users who will be switching to fiber optics in the foreseeable future. When the new connection arrives in your home, it’s just a matter of plugging in the new cable and you can continue. Of course, the 5690 Pro can also be used by anyone who has DSL and does not want fiber, or vice versa.

What stands out about this router is that the device has a new form factor. Whereas the Fritz!Box has so far mainly used a horizontal model, the Fritz!Box 5690 Pro is available as a standing model. This means that the device takes up less space and can dissipate the heat even better. In addition, the characteristic red color has been implemented slightly more subtly. This router lets you use the WiFi 2.4, 5 and 6 band and is prepared for WiFi 7.

Fritz!Box 6860 5G

In the Netherlands we do very well when it comes to connections to the internet. Yet there are still plenty of areas that depend on a 5G connection because there is no cable, DSL or fiber optic.

The problem with using 5G indoors is that some bands, especially those for the higher speeds, don’t get through the wall.
