Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra owners are complaining about Wi-Fi issues

Multiple Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra are complaining about Wi-Fi issues. In fact, many of them cannot connect to Wi-Fi 6, the latest standard of Wi-Fi. Fortunately, the problem seems to be known to Samsung and an update will have to fix it.

Wifi problems

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra report on Reddit and on a Samsung forum that they are plagued by a WiFi problem. The users report that they keep getting the message ”Connected without internet”. If you look at the reports, it is noticeable that all problems arise from people who have connected their S23 Ultra to a WiFi 6 router. In addition, it happens when using WPA3, a WiFi security standard.

“Connected without internet” means that the S23 Ultra can connect to a Wi-Fi 6 router, but it cannot access the internet. The problems only seem to occur with the S23 Ultra and not with the Galaxy S23 and/or the Galaxy S23+. The problem also seems to lie only with the connection to a WiFi 6 router, as users report that their S23 Ultra does work in combination with, for example, a WiFi 5 router.

Solution coming

According to Android Central, Samsung is aware of the issue and is working hard on a fix. The solution is expected to come in the March security update, which you can expect in the coming weeks.

For now you could disable wifi 6 and WPA3 or factory reset the phone altogether. In the latter case, don’t forget to back up everything. However, we recommend that you wait for the update. We expect that the problem will be solved after this.
