TCL NXTWEAR S

In Barcelona we have already heard some news about TCL. The manufacturer has announced the new TCL 40 series, but there is more to report. Where the company previously introduced us to the NXTWEAR S, we have now been able to test it at the trade fair in Barcelona. The brand has previously also launched other glasses that further increase the entertainment value.

The NXTWEAR S connects you to the smartphone via a USB-C cable. Unlike the previous model, you can easily connect it to the glasses with the magnetic connection. It offers several additions compared to VR glasses. Where these glasses are usually very large and somewhat bulky, the TCL NXTWEAR S is light and has a more ‘normal look’.

TCL offers high-resolution images with the glasses; 1080p Full HD. This should be comparable to a 130 inch television at a distance of four meters. With the 360-degree videos, you can look around you as you can with, for example, the Google Cardboard or other VR glasses. In addition, with 3D images you see the images coming at you.

There are speakers on the glasses to enjoy the audio. There is a dial on the frame for adjusting the volume. You can also connect the glasses to your favorite game console and start gaming together. However, the glasses do not work with every smartphone, according to inquiries at the stand. Remarkable; it doesn’t even work with TCL devices. A USB-C port with DP (DisplayPort) is required. This usually only works with devices from the higher segment; TCL doesn’t have that.

TCL announces that it will release the TCL NXTWEAR S in several European countries, including Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. You pay 499 euros for the glasses. A visit to the Netherlands is not planned for the time being. So you will have to drive a bit for it.
