OnePlus announces its first mechanical keyboard for PC, the Keyboard 81 Pro
After the announcement of its first Android tablet, OnePlus lifted the veil on its first mechanical keyboard for PC: the Keyboard 81 Pro. We already know the brand for its smartphones, headphones and now here is a new category.
First keyboard for OnePlus
The keyboard is made in collaboration with the mechanical keyboard company Keychron. It comprises 81 keys (hence its name) placed inside an aluminum assembly. The keys themselves use a thermoplastic material which is meant to create “a soft bounce with each press”, according to OnePlus. There’s also a crystal-clear button in the top-right corner with customizable actions, including one to turn off notifications while gaming. The keyboard can be used wirelessly with its 4000mAh battery or you can connect it to your PC with a USB cable.
On the other hand, the keyboard supports remapping with many open source software applications. There will also be RGB lighting on the backs of the keys. You can also switch between macOS and Windows layouts with a specific switch. Also, the product is compatible with devices running Linux, iOS and Android.
Another element, you can use the supplied support to place it in an upright position. This stand was designed so that you can use the desktop space saved for other things when you’re not using the keyboard.
The OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro will be available in two versions. The first will be dark gray in color with red colors for the Esc and Enter keys, with optimized tactile switches. The other will be light gray in color with blue colors for the Esc and Enter keys, and linear switches. The switches as well as the keys are replaceable.
Nothing has been said about the price of the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro, but pre-orders will start in April. There is no specific release date yet.
